The Chisinau Municipality and the "Autosalubritate" Administration signed a contract with GOL CEVRE TEKNOLOJILERI Ltd., the leader of the "JV WATT-GOL" consortium, for the execution of recultivation and closure works at the temporary landfill in the Ciocana district.
This stage is part of the second phase of the municipal "Chisinau Solid Waste" project, the largest waste management project in the history of the Republic of Moldova.
The contract has a total value of 3,888,888 euros. "JV WATT-GOL" has 18 months to complete a series of works, including reprofiling the waste deposit, installing modern leachate and biogas collection systems, constructing an access road and a stormwater collection system, as well as relocating the existing stormwater sewer network.
These works comply with European Union Landfill Directives and national legislation, thereby contributing to environmental protection and ensuring the safety of residents. Upon completion of the project, the new infrastructure will cover an area of 5.9 hectares, ensuring a cleaner and healthier environment for the municipality.
The "Chisinau Solid Waste" project is financially supported by the Chisinau Municipality, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the European Investment Bank (EIB), and the Eastern Europe Energy Efficiency and Environment Partnership (E5P), with a total budget of nearly 26 million euros.
