The Memorial Complex “Eternitate” was taken over from the central authorities in April 2025. The park was in an advanced state of deterioration after years of neglect and lack of maintenance.
Thus, the Chișinău City Hall gradually intervened and rehabilitated the “Eternitate” Memorial Complex, where commemorative events dedicated to Victory Day are held annually on May 9.
The improvement works included: rehabilitation of the five weapons, which are the central element of the Complex, and restoration of the lower area surrounding them; rehabilitation of the paving throughout the territory; and cleaning of the Monument to the Victims of Transnistria, “The Grieving Mother”.
At the same time, the lighting system was modernized by adding new lighting fixtures and repairing the sound equipment. Video surveillance cameras were installed, green areas were rehabilitated, new trees, shrubs, and flowers were planted, urban furniture was restored/replaced, and new waste bins were installed. The gates were also repaired.
In addition, the Exhibition Center at the “Eternitate” Memorial Complex was reopened. It hosts exhibitions dedicated to history and to the memory of those who fell during World War II.
