ONLINE CAMP FOR CHILDREN FROM THE DIASPORA
Description
The first edition of the online camp “At Home in Chișinău” took place between 14 and 19 July 2025, bringing together diaspora children eager to reconnect with the city of their parents’ or grandparents’ origin. Organised by the “B. P. Hasdeu” Municipal Library with the support of the Chișinău City Hall, the project represents an innovative initiative to forge cultural and emotional ties between young participants and their homeland.
Designed as an interactive educational platform, the camp offered a varied programme: meetings with writers, creative workshops, virtual tours, and thematic activities about the history, traditions and symbols of Chișinău. Children explored the city through stories, games, artistic creations and culinary workshops, all adapted to a friendly and accessible online format.
About 25 children from Romania, Italy, Spain, Germany, France and the United Kingdom took part in this first edition. The programme was conceived to provide a meaningful and engaging experience, even at a distance, underscoring the idea that Chișinău remains “home” for all who keep it close to their hearts.
