To improve pedestrian safety on bd. Moscova, in the area of the “Soiuz” Shopping Center and McDonald’s, two LED pedestrian traffic lights have been installed, equipped with timers and buttons for audible signals, as well as four vehicle traffic lights, also LED with timers. The new traffic lights have already been connected and will contribute not only to pedestrian safety but also to improving traffic flow at this busy intersection.
The intervention takes place at a major road junction where four main arteries meet: str. Kiev – bd. Moscova – str. Alecu Russo – str. Bogdan Voievod, an area with significant pedestrian traffic.
It is worth noting that in previous years, several measures were taken within the roundabout area to improve pedestrian safety.
In 2023, similar pedestrian traffic lights were installed on Kiev Street, and in 2024, Bogdan Voievod Street benefited from a wider set of interventions: the pedestrian crossing was relocated and equipped with traffic lights, a protective barrier was installed, the bus stop was moved, the nearby sidewalk was rehabilitated, and the curbs were lowered to road level to facilitate pedestrian access.
