Rehabilitation of the "Alunelul" park

The “Alunelul” Public Garden is located in the western part of the city, in the Buiucani sector, covering an area of 11 hectares. It was founded in 1958 on the site of a Jewish cemetery.
For many years, the park posed a real danger to passersby, with impassable sidewalks and no nighttime lighting.

The rehabilitation began in 2020 and was organized in two stages. Pedestrian alleys were arranged, the Summer Theater with stage and seats was rebuilt, an automated irrigation system was installed, green spaces were arranged, the night and decorative lighting system was modernized, multifunctional sports fields and playgrounds were built, chess tables and a bicycle track were installed. A video and audio system was also installed in the park. Additionally, a sanitary group and urban furniture were installed.

One of the attractions of the “Alunelul” Public Garden is the musical fountain with artistic lighting.

Deep inside the park is the Memorial Complex of the victims of the 1903 Chișinău pogrom (installed in 1993), which was also rehabilitated.

The area immediately adjacent to the park was also arranged. The public transport waiting station was rehabilitated, and parking spaces for cars were arranged. The works were carried out by the Chișinău City Hall with the contribution of the Sector 6 City Hall of Bucharest.

During the summer period, fairs of local producers are organized in the park. Additionally, the “Alunelul” Public Garden hosts dozens of concerts and festivals, outdoor film screenings, chess and checkers tournaments annually.

The total budget of the project is 24,423,000 lei, of which 17,570,600 lei represent the contribution of the Sector 6 City Hall of Bucharest, and 6,852,400 lei are funds allocated by the Chișinău City Hall.
