Miorița Square, located in the Telecentru district on the street of the same name, was created from scratch on a previously abandoned public area of about 3 hectares. The square was inaugurated in May 2022.
The project included the arrangement of pedestrian alleys, modernization of public street lighting, landscaping of the green area, installation of an automated irrigation system at the park entrance, and video surveillance cameras. Urban furniture was installed, along with a fitness area, a ping-pong table, a playground for children, and a bicycle track. For citizens’ comfort, a public transport waiting station was also built adjacent to the square.
The green space was enhanced by planting trees and shrubs, complemented by a fresh lawn that revitalizes and beautifies the area.
In the same year, the municipality, together with Veaceslav Jiglițchi, an Honorary Citizen of Chișinău, decided to install an urban sculpture in the square. The sculpture depicts the shepherd from the famous ballad “Miorița.” At night, the artwork is illuminated from within, creating a captivating visual effect.
