Tourist orientation "You are here"

The "You are Here!" project is an initiative of the Chisinau City Hall, which aims to facilitate the orientation of tourists in the city of Chisinau, in relation to tourist attractions that are located at a distance of about 500 m from the place where tourists are.  

This project not only helps tourists to find their way around the city of Chisinau more easily, but also offers them an interactive way to explore the city and discover new sights. To achieve this goal, 5 installations with 40 sights have been set up at key intersections and places in the capital. Each installation consists of brass plaques, which have nearby sights marked on their surface and engraved with street names for better orientation in the space.

The plaques are made in different configurations, which copy the exact contours of the pavement of the place where they are located, thus becoming an integral part of the pedestrian layer.

In addition, each plate has a QR code, which takes users to the online platform www.visit.chisinau.md, where the sights marked on the installations are described in more detail. This way, tourists can find out useful information about the city's sights and explore Chisinau more easily.

The budget allocated by the Chisinau City Hall for the design and implementation of the first 5 information boards of this kind was 78,000 lei, which demonstrates the importance that the local authorities attach to promoting tourism in Chisinau.

Taking into account that this municipal project has received a positive response from the citizens and guests of the capital, it was decided to extend the project for the whole year 2023, when more such signs will be installed throughout the city.

In the year 2023-2024, another 20 plaques with around 120 tourist attractions have been installed.
