Sport development programs

For the first time, in 2022, the Program for co-financing projects for sports and other sports activities at local and international level was launched, providing for the promotion of a healthy lifestyle, selection and training of performance athletes, training of the population of the municipality of Chisinau in the practice of sports.

At present, the Directorate General for Education, Youth and Sport has 3 sports high schools and 13 sports institutions. In the 46 sports institutions, 23 branches of sport are practiced in the 46 sports sections, in which about 6129 pupils are trained annually, guided by about 300 teachers - coaches.

Most of the athletes from the subordinated branch institutions have been included in the national teams for the results obtained. In recent years, the Chisinau City Hall has substantially increased allocations for sports in the capital.

In 2022 alone, more than 9 million lei have been allocated from the municipal budget for co-financing and financing various sports events, competitions and participation in championships.
