Investments in water and sewerage system

With the support of the BERD and the BEI, large-scale works have been carried out to rehabilitate the water and sewerage networks.

Some 120 km of drinking water networks and connections, covering all sectors of the city, have been installed. Chisinau, as well as the localities of Vatra, Codru, Tohatin and Durlesti, were replaced in 2020.

Also, about 7 km of sewage and faecal waste collectors were replaced, mainly located in the historical center of the city.

Chisinau, the works related to the rehabilitation of the wastewater treatment station and the construction of the new sludge treatment line were intensified. The completion of the works and the commissioning of the entire technological chain is planned for the second quarter of 2023.

All these works have been carried out within the framework of the Program for the Development of Water Supply Services in the Municipality. Chisinau, financed by loans from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the European Investment Bank and the investment grant provided by the European Union Neighborhood Investment Facility, under the guarantee of the Municipality of Chisinau.

The total cost of the works exceeds one billion lei.
