Dacia Boulevard was in an advanced state of deterioration. The access stairs to the adjacent neighborhoods were destroyed, the concrete slab sidewalks had never been repaired, and the asphalt ones were impractical for pedestrians, strollers, and scooters. There were no lawns or green areas, squares, or rest spaces. Benches and trash bins were missing, and the underpasses were in deplorable condition — dirty, dark, and unsafe.
In recent years, the main boulevard in the Botanica sector has undergone several rehabilitation processes, both in terms of road infrastructure and adjacent infrastructure, and those who pass through the area can clearly see the transformation.
On the road segment between Hristo Botev Street and Valea Crucii Street, the roadway surface was repaired and a Slurry Seal bituminous treatment was applied to extend the lifespan of the asphalt pavement. In some sections, especially near public transport stops, the road foundation was reinforced.
Sidewalks on both sides of the boulevard were rehabilitated, bicycle lanes and parking spaces for cars were created. An irrigation system was installed and trees were planted. New squares and green areas were developed, including: the square near the Technical University, the square near the Youth Center, the square at the intersection of Dacia – Trandafirilor, and the square near the underpass by McDonald’s. Access stairs at the intersections of Dacia Blvd – Hristo Botev Street, Dacia Blvd – Traian Blvd, and others were also rehabilitated.
At the same time, public transport waiting stations were modernized, swings and playgrounds for children were installed. The lighting system was modernized and complemented with decorative lighting.
The underpasses were also rehabilitated:
- Tel Aviv (Traian – Decebal – Dacia)
- Budapest (Teilor – Dacia)
