First intersection with intelligent traffic lights

Road junction "bd. Dacia - Bacioii Noi Street" is the first intersection in Chisinau municipality where the traffic lights have been modernized by installing intelligent traffic lights.

The system analyses all variables and adapts the "timpul de verde" to ensure a continuous flow of vehicles and to prevent possible traffic jams on priority traffic directions, depending on the time of day.

At the same time, the new traffic lights are designed to prevent serious accidents that regularly occur at intersections by discouraging dangerous maneuvers by drivers.

As one of the most dangerous intersections in the municipality, where, according to police data, 70 percent of road accidents have fatal consequences, it has been reorganized for pedestrian safety. The sidewalks have been redesigned, pedestrian safety barriers have been installed, and public transport waiting stations have been relocated.

In the future, intelligent traffic lights are to be installed at other intersections on bd. Dacia, on the stretch between Bacioii Noi and Burebista streets. Similarly, an assessment will be made of the areas with a higher risk of accidents and it will be decided where the intersections will be upgraded in this way.

The total cost of the works, including the reorganization of the intersection - 4 million lei.
