Cleaning the bed of the Bic River

In 2020, the Chisinau City Hall initiated the cleaning of the bed of the Bic River, from Petru Rares Street to Cantonului Street (Mihai Viteazul Bridge).

The cleaning works continued during 2021, at the same time as the concrete works on the riverbed. A pedestrian bridge was also built.

The interventions aim to reduce the risk of silt accumulation, prevent the formation of silt and landslides, ensure better stormwater transit and prevent flooding.

The total investment for this project was 21.5 million lei, money from the Chisinau municipal budget and the National Ecological Fund (NEF).
